trauma-focused therapy
Affirming Therapy and Wellness LLC is trauma-informed, meaning we recognize the widespread impact of trauma and other systems at place. I prioritize your safety, choice, and empowerment throughout the therapeutic process. Healing happens best in a space where you feel respected, supported, and genuinely cared for.
I am trained in EMDR, IFS/parts work, and Flash technique, three evidence-based practices that combine the mind and body to provide distress relief and progress in trauma healing.

Trauma can mean a lot of different things to different people. In the clinical world, trauma is essentially any sort of event or experience that alters our ability to function or cope. Some examples can include: a breakup, losing a job, being a member of a marginalized community, the loss of a pet or loved one, and so much more. It can really be any sort of overwhelming experience!
-
That is absolutely okay! A very large part of trauma work is ensuring a strong rapport and trust within the client and therapist relationship. We will work on things at your own pace, and you will have a say in what we focus on in each session.

Definitely not! Although that is the main presenting issue that I work with, we can explore many other areas such as hobbies, interests, short/long term goals, etc.
